I have abandoned the attempt to move the site and have directed my nameservers back to my original host. Once that propagates through the internet, HOPEFULLY Psychfic will be back up.

It’s gonna work out. *hugs*

*crosses fingers*
I have no idea what a server move is, or actually about anything you’ve had to deal with over the past days, but I’m stying positive. It’s gonna work. My psychic senses tell me it’s gonna work.
*crosses fingers*
April 14th, 2008 at 5:48 pm
am sending a load of pineapple your way Jessica! hope it helps!!
April 14th, 2008 at 6:06 pm
Keep sending the positive energy!!
The downside of switching nameservers is that it can take up to 48 hours to take effect.
*groans*
April 14th, 2008 at 6:58 pm
Keep it up, Jessica!
You rock! We *heart* all the effort you put into this!
April 14th, 2008 at 8:02 pm
Thanks for working so hard, Jessica!
April 14th, 2008 at 8:34 pm
Surely you’re not talking 48 *earth*-hours, right?

Right?
No seriously, whatever a nameserver is, it’s not going to get you down, and it’s not going to get all of us down, either.
I’m sure Psychfic will get an update and review boost once all this is over. We humble masses bow before thee, Jessica!
April 14th, 2008 at 9:18 pm
I hope that the site isn’t overloaded from all the updates and reviews that are just waiting to be posted.
If the server people continue to give you a hard time, I don’t think it would bee too much of an issue for us to take up some pitchforks and ambush them. XD
Thanks for all your effort Jessica! You rock!
April 14th, 2008 at 10:40 pm
aaaww…don’t worry everything will work out *hugs*
April 14th, 2008 at 11:23 pm
Thanks so much, guys!
*sigh*
It still hasn’t switched over.
April 15th, 2008 at 12:08 am
*perking up from her post food poisoning daze*
Did someone say something about pitchforks and torches?
Dang but it’s been a while since we had us a good lynchin’ . . .
*grabs shiny, well sharpened pitchfork, freshly tarred torch ,and newly prepared Molotov cocktails*
Just point us in the right direction and we’ll take care of *everything*, Jess. Don’t you worry ’bout that.
And in the meantime keep heart and know we’re all patiently (as we know how) waiting for this to be resolved. *hugs*
NOW COME ON LADIES! COWGIRL UP AND LET’S GO LYNCH US SOME INTERNET BAD GUYS! YEEHAH!
*spurs horse and rides off into dark of the night looking for unwary hackers and problem servers*

Let’s do some lynchin’!
*Starts to run after Windcryer, then realizes a horse would be much more effective*
*Subsequently realizes she doesn’t own a horse, so goes back to running*

I could be completely missing the boat here, or else pointing out something of which everyone else is already aware, but if you go to http://www.psychfic.com/index.php, the site is up and working. I don’t know if you can upload stories/comment or whatever, but everything’s available to read.
Just thought I’d toss that out there - if everybody already knew that, then don’t mind me.
April 15th, 2008 at 1:50 am
…sigh. Though, the address works a lot better when there’s not a comma at the end.
April 15th, 2008 at 1:55 am
Interesting. I cannot access it. I’m still getting the 500 Internal Server Error.
*scratches head*
April 15th, 2008 at 1:55 am
I just tried the site without a comma and it didn’t work for me.
April 15th, 2008 at 1:56 am
It did work for me last night at one point, but it hasn’t since about mindnight EST last night.
April 15th, 2008 at 2:04 am
Really?
…How very strange, then. It’s been working for me all day.
I confess myself boggled.
April 15th, 2008 at 2:06 am
Can some other people try the link so we can see if it works for anyone else? This is a mystery, no doubt!
April 15th, 2008 at 2:12 am
I’ve been tryin since forever. Just to check up. It hasn’t worked since about an hour before midnight for me…
April 15th, 2008 at 2:14 am
Is it possible, Anonymouse, that you’re simply accessing pages in your cache? The site may not actually be working but it’s letting you see what you’ve already seen. Can you go to a page you’ve never gone to?
*iz not rly interwebs expert, just plays one on TV*
Maja
(btw, it hasn’t worked for me *any* way I’ve tried. And trust me, I’VE TRIED. *twitches from withdrawal*)
April 15th, 2008 at 2:31 am
I’m sorry to say (for all of us going through withdrawal!) that the link doesn’t work for me either.
April 15th, 2008 at 2:49 am
It doesn’t work for me now, but it did work for a while last night but it wouldn’t allow me to access any fics or author profiles.
April 15th, 2008 at 3:00 am
So I just discovered Psychfic.com on Sunday while surfing fanfiction.net. I must say I was very impressed with the site.
But as luck would have it, I was right at the climax of a good story I was browsing when the server went down. I was so desperate to finish this story that I’ve been googling “Psychfic”, and finally found this site (Psychfic.net) to let me know what’s going on. So I appreciate the webmaster’s effort to reach her hopelessly obsessed “clients”.
As for the address someone mentioned, I tried it without the comma and it didn’t work, sadly.
Now I just hope I can find that story again when the site gets up and running. I don’t remember the name of the story OR the author… :/
April 15th, 2008 at 3:03 am
Nope - I’m not limited to pages saved in my cache. I’m seriously confused. I originally realized I could access the page because I followed a bookmark to an individual story - does that work for anyone else, maybe?
April 15th, 2008 at 3:22 am
Nope. Been trying my bookmarks periodically and nothing works. Which really blows because I’m desperate to quote something Dragonnan said to me in a review reply for a Power Rangers fanfic I’m writing.
Dude, if you’re reading this…you wouldn’t happen to remember how you worded that mini speech about things not being able to be fixed but simply BEING? Or…something to that effect…
April 15th, 2008 at 3:22 am
The link didn’t work for me either. As an experiment, I also tried to access the site from my cache and past browsing history. That didn’t work either.
Anonymouse - where do you live? Do you mind if some of us move in temporarily?
I’m convinced that we will come through this time of withdrawal as stronger people with a greater capacity for patience and self control…if we survive:)
JessicaRae, thank you for creating a place that we love so much and for working so hard to get it back online. You go girl!
April 15th, 2008 at 3:25 am
*realizes that was probably a REALLY bad thing to quote*
0_0
Didn’t mean it! Things can totally be fixed!!
…crap. As a whump fan I should know better. It’s like saying “At least it isn’t raining.”
April 15th, 2008 at 4:18 am
The thing that has me hating myself is that the last site backup I did was November 2007. Totally STUPID of me.
As a last resort, I will attempt a restore of that backup, but everything new from that date til now will be gone in the archive and the forum. And good Lord, that around 5 months of activity gone. Members having joined after that date will have to join again, their accounts gone. Stories added after that point will be gone and will have to be uploaded again. Reviews, challenges, anything added after that point, gone.
That is the worst case scenario at this point. It makes me sick to my stomach and that is MY fault.
Do you all still like me? I sure don’t. Man, I’m stressed out.
April 15th, 2008 at 4:20 am
Ooh, I happened to doublecheck one more time, and I got about thirty seconds of a working site! Got all my hopes up - and then…it went off. Back to Internal Server Error…
I neglected earlier to add my thanks for all your work, Jessica!
April 15th, 2008 at 4:29 am
IT’S WORKINGGGGGGGG!
April 15th, 2008 at 4:40 am
That’s not fair, it’s not working for me!
April 15th, 2008 at 4:41 am
“Nope. Been trying my bookmarks periodically and nothing works. Which really blows because I’m desperate to quote something Dragonnan said to me in a review reply for a Power Rangers fanfic I’m writing.

I wish I did- I say these things, and then they just vanish as soon as they flow from my head! LOL!
Jessica- so so sorry for this! I’ve never had an issue of this magnitude, but I do understand the frustration of anything evil with computers and internet.
April 15th, 2008 at 4:55 am
Okay, I’m getting an email for my birthday and updates to threads on the forum . . . yet trying to follow the links or even type it in fresh nets me only a blank page (for the archive) or an Internal 500 error (for the forum).
Anyone but Stray get in?
Maja
April 15th, 2008 at 4:56 am
I just got in, and it seems to have all the most recent stories, not just those from 5 months ago…I will clear my cashe and try again.
April 15th, 2008 at 4:59 am
It is still working after clearing my cache.
April 15th, 2008 at 5:04 am
It’s just a blank white page for me.
April 15th, 2008 at 5:06 am
darn i’m not getting in..and duuude of course we still like you…YOU IS AMAZING! got that?!!!! get it in your head or i wil forcefully do so ..lol *hugs* these things happen..we understand…..it’s those crappy hosts we don’t like
April 15th, 2008 at 5:18 am
Nope. Still nothin’. What browser are all y’all using that are getting in? I’ve tried both firefox and IE but no joy.

Shawn stopped moving, staring up towards where he was certain there used to be a ceiling… only to see an empty black sky above.
“Dude… what the hell just happened?”
Gus, equally confused, looked down at his feet… and saw the same blackness below as above. Naturally he shrieked. Like a little girl.
It echoed very nicely.
“Damn it Shawn, this is not funny!”
An irritated scoff, rose from the other man. “Are you kidding? I know I can find all the coins in Super Mario and still beat your speed, but so far that hasn’t given me power over time and space.”
Still hyperventilating at the sudden force floating them through the dark- internally pondering with the tiny portion of his brain not comatose as to why Shawn was, not only standing with his arms crossed as though still on a solid surface, but also well lit- Gus bit his lip and began cataloguing all the forces that could have caused such a confusing convergence that would rip them from their office, plunging them into this bizarre space obviously lacking in gravity yet filled with enough oxygen to continue expanding his lungs for the screams that repeated endlessly while he yet continued to ponder. And then he groaned, realizing he’d just thought his way through a completely unforgivable run-on sentence.
“Shawn, I really want to go home!”
Cartwheeling slowly past, Shawn spread his arms and grinned. “Dude, this is totally like Space Invaders!” Pointing his fingers like pistols, he made shooting noises as he rotated by- pretending to laser his friend.
“I’m not amused!”
Intending to leave, Gus realized he wasn’t getting anywhere though he strode very determinedly in mid air. Meanwhile, Shawn spun lazily past going the other direction now, still shooting.
“Cut it out Shawn! We need to figure out what happened so we can get out of here!”
Shawn laughed. “Gus, haven’t you figured it out?”
Adopting the posture his friend had been sporting earlier, Gus crossed his arms again in frustration. “I don’t care about whatever malarkey you’re planning to concoct…”
“Malarky…?”
“But I was in the middle of a report when we were… transported here!”
Still rotating, yet somehow managing to remain hovering in place, Shawn held out his hands, palm up, in a calming gesture. “Okay, okay. Look… don’t be mad… but, well… see…”
“Shawn quite pussyfooting and spill it!”
Squinting, a wince as though expecting a bitch-slap, Shawn finished quickly. “I-was-trying-to-upload-a-fourteen-gig-story-I-wrote-in-secret-and-accidently-crashed-the-website-just-when-Jessica-was-transferring-files-to-the-new-site!”
There was no slap, but Gus’s jaw dropped in horror. “YOU DID WHAT!?”
Reaching behind himself, Shawn pulled a water pistol from his back pocket- proceeding to drench himself until water was running from his soaked hair. Kneeling in mid-air, soaked, lip pouting out in guilt, he made a pathetic figure.
“Gus, I’m sooooo sorry…”
Unamused, Gus- arms still crossed crossly- lifted one brow and raised his chin. “I’m not the one you should be apologizing to.”
Confusion for just a moment, but nobody could accuse his buddy of stupidity. Okay, not completely true. Actually, Shawn was definitely an idiot. However, he had a mind available to him when he chose to use it.
Light clearly dawning, pathetic expression bleeding into true regret, he stared straight ahead, eyes wide and mossy green.
“Jessica. I am so sorry for what I’ve done. I offer myself to you for whatever you wish to do to me!” One quick glance to the side. “And Gus too.”
“Wait, SHAWN! I had nothing to do with this! SHAWN!!!!”
April 15th, 2008 at 5:21 am
I am using firefox. Maybe make you are going directly to psychfic.com and not some other sub link you have (if that makes any sense). Other than that I don’t have any suggestions. The site seems to be working, some people have even updated their stories.
April 15th, 2008 at 5:55 am
Woohoo! I’m in! *cackles with glee and snags desired quote* Time for a happy dance!
And dragonnon…*points at last post*
*crumbles to the floor in hysterics*
April 15th, 2008 at 5:58 am
This may be why some can access the site and others can’t:
“The DNS entries have to propagate - Internet Service Providers (ISPs) around the world have to update their records. This can take 12-72 hours (it typically takes a day). Since some ISPs update their DNS tables more frequently than others, your site will be visible from some ISPs earlier than others. This process is the same no matter which host you choose.”
I, for one, can’t access the site yet either. I get a blank page for the root of http://www.psychfic.com and the 500 error when tacking index.php on the end. HOPEFULLY, once the DNS fully propagates Psychfic will be up for all.
And thank you, sas. That you all(i hope) still like me at the possibility of losing so much of the site is a relief.
And thank you, dragonnan, for that put the biggest smile on my face since this whole problem started. And oh, do I have plans for little Shawny-boy. First, torture, then lovin’.
April 15th, 2008 at 6:26 am
Dragonnan . . . HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA *dies*
Wow. If only Jenn was here to see this. For once it’s not her fault. IT’S SHAWN’S!

April 15th, 2008 at 2:59 pm
I’m able to access the forum, but not psychfic…….yet.
I have an hour before work and I plan to use that time well!
WooHoo
Thank you Jessica…sending you an e-hug now.
April 15th, 2008 at 3:36 pm
Hooray happiness!!!!!! The world is complete once more!! Thanks Jessica!!!!!!!!
April 15th, 2008 at 7:40 pm
WAHOO! IT’S BACK!
*grabs seat to keep from being thrown off when world begins spinning again*
Oh Jess, my only lingering concern from this weekend is that you are all right. No nervous breakdowns occurred did they? Didn’t strangle anyone did you? Do I need to send a ‘clean up crew’ to make sure all evidence is properly reassigned to a guilty party that deserves the jail time? Because I can and will do it, just say the word.
And never ever think we’d blame something like this on you. For heaven’s sake you’re only human and besides YOU BROUGHT US TOGETHER IN THE MAGIC OF PSYCH IN THE FIRST PLACE. That right there will cut you a whole lotta slack.
And since it wasn’t your fault anyway but problems with the interwebs *kicks nebulous interwebs that are at fault for almost etting Psychfic* we’re all good.
Here’s hoping your next weekend goes better than this last one did. You deserve a nice break.
O_O
From doing stuff! Not ‘break’ as in . . .
oh crud.
*crosses fingers and prays she didn’t just doom us all again*

Palm Reading And Psychic…
I don’t mean to be too in your face, but I’m not sure I agree with this. Anyhow, thanks for sharing and I think I’ll come to this blog more often….
June 7th, 2008 at 4:31 pm
What are you talking about? This isn’t for any actual “Psychic” stuff. This is a fallback site for the Fanfiction archive of the TV show “Psych”. This is a site to go to when the main FANSITE is down.
